Poetry book Number three! If you are an introspective person who enjoys poetry, Flight to Eternal Happiness is a relaxing, and uplifting read that can help you to further look into yourself, and start looking for the best life has to offer.
Flight to Eternal Happiness is an interesting read. When I first started reading, I was a little bit thrown by the structure. Each poem is preceded by a short blurb that, per the Author’s Note, was a note that she had, at some point, written to herself. Sometimes I felt they helped explain the poem somewhat, at other times just a general life lesson on the same topic as the following poem. I had mixed feelings about these blurbs. At times they were appreciated, but in general I felt like they were slightly superfluous. Not because they aren’t well written or insightful, but because the poems stand well on their own. I just didn’t feel like I needed them. However, after reading the Author’s Note at the end, I felt I better understood her decision to include them, and while I still feel like it wasn’t necessary, I respect her choice.
The poems themselves are good. They are (mostly) clear and concise. Each poem has its own pearl of wisdom. Ms. Venkataramani writes with a very clear voice, and they joy she has found in her life shows through in her work.
