I picked up this book after seeing it everywhere on Instagram. While it didn’t disappoint, it also didn’t grab my attention right away. It took me a little bit to really get hooked. But, once I was, I couldn’t put it down!

Part of my issue with this book is the before and after timeline. While it bothers me SIGNIFICANTLY less in romance and general fiction than it does in mystery novels (Seriously, can be stop doing this in mystery novels?), it just isn’t my favorite. However, in retrospect, this style works pretty well for the story. I do think it’s part of why it took me a bit to really get hooked, though.

I love Alex and Poppy. I love their friendship, I loved the way their relationship grew, I loved all their adorable moments, their missteps, and crazy adventures. I loved everything about their relationship. I really enjoyed all the different side characters they meet on their trips, and I loved that Henry included some call backs, bringing characters from earlier trips back into play on later trips. I also thought Henry did a great job writing the “now” chapters. There was a perfect balance of awkwardness and familiarity. The way they stumbled around getting to know each other again was endearing, while still having the sense that Alex and Poppy deeply care for each other.

People We Meet On Vacation is full of laughs, and tenderness, moments that are just cheesy enough, without going overboard.

If you love friends to lovers, and romantic comedies, this is a book you should check out! A great book for when you need to relax and escape a bit.
