Happy Pride Month, my friends! What better time for me to read my first book with LGBTQIA+ main characters! I have to be honest with you. I have always considered myself an ally, but deciding to read this book made me examine myself a bit. I’m rather ashamed to admit, I was nervous! How was I going to feel about it? Would I get all the warm and fuzzy feelings I get reading a book with a hetero couple? If I didn’t, would that mean I’m a bad ally? But you know one of the best things about reading? It helps us LEARN! And to expose ourselves to things we wouldn’t normally experience, and learn about people we maybe wouldn’t have otherwise. And thankfully, my concerns were unfounded.

Red, White and Royal Blue was SO much fun to read! It’s funny, fast paced, sweet and completely swoon worthy! Alex and Henry’s relationship is dynamic. McQuiston did a wonderful job of building the foundation of their relationship. They don’t jump straight from rivals to lovers, which I really appreciated. After all, the fun is in watching them fall in love! I also enjoyed seeing the family dynamics, especially with Alex and Henry being in such public positions. Truly, all of the main characters are complex, and likeable.

I really don’t have any criticism on this one. This is a five- star read for sure! There are other things that I really loved, but I don’t know how I can talk about them without giving major plot points away. I think I could talk all day about all there is to love about this one!

If you’re looking for a heartwarming, and adorable rom com, I can’t recommend this highly enough! Make sure you add it to your list!
