The Killer Across the Table
The Killer Across the Table: Unlocking the Secrets of Serial Killers and Predators with the FBI’s Original Mindhunter
John E. Douglas, Mark Olshaker
Synopsis: Criminal profiler, John Douglas, recounts his interviews with four different killers.
Sensitivity Warning: Rape, Murder, kidnapping, child abuse, pretty much everything.
Rating: R- Very sensitive and graphic content that may be disturbing to younger readers.
John Douglas was the first author I read when I started getting interested in true crime, and I’m pretty sure I will eventually read every single on of his books. I LOVE psychology. I am completely fascinated by it. Douglas’s books are a great combination of true crime and psychology. I absolutely love heating about how he figures people out during these interviews, and how he was able to apply that to his work.
If you’re like me and are interested in psychology and true crime, I highly recommend The Killer Across the Table. I also recommend it for anyone who is curious about true crime, but not sure about it. Because he is discussing murders, there are some pretty grisly parts, however, one of the things I appreciate is that he doesn’t dwell in the details, or try to shock readers. It’s presented in a very matter of fact way.
Added bonus, if you listen to the audiobook, it is narrated by Johnathon Groff, who is fantastic as always.
