Two years ago (to the day, actually), I attended a seminar that I thought was going to be simply about how to make more money in my career. The speaker shocked me by taking time to ask us to name the fear that was holding us back. What was stopping us from going after what we want. That seminar changed my life. So much of what my life is now came to be because of that message.

So imagine how excited I was to come across a book that was all about diving deeper into that same message! This is going to be one of the audiobooks that I end up purchasing a hard copy of, just so I can keep coming back to it.

One of the things I appreciated the most about Professional Troublemaker is that it walks you through various fears in many different areas of life; especially in professional settings (speaking up in meetings; advocating for yourself), as well as personal (How you know a relationship is toxic; when to take other people’s opinions into account, and when NOT to).

I have great respect for the way Ajayi Jones approached writing this book. She is straightforward, and honest. She is candid about things she has struggled with and things she still struggles with. Amidst the wise advice, she shares wisdom she gained from her mother and grandmother, along with some humorous stories.

I thoroughly enjoyed Professional Troublemaker, and really gained a lot from reading it. If you are someone who has a tendency to avoid things out of fear, I encourage you to check this book out!
