Review: Images of Devotion
Images of Devotion
Kate Alexander
Synopsis: Dixie and Chase have been friends since they were young. Together, they have seen the best and worst that life has to offer, and built a beautiful friendship. When Dixie’s boyfriend breaks up with her just before an important family event, Chase steps in to escort her, and show her what she means to him.
Images of Devotion (the sophomore novel in Alexander’s Blossom Hills series) is my favorite kind of sequel. A story that intertwines only slightly, but does not need to be read in sequence, and can be read as a stand alone. (Although, if you read one, you will read the other, because why wouldn’t you?!)
The way Kate Alexander writes makes me think of one of my all time favorite authors, Catherine Anderson. They have a formula that works, and they don’t stray from it, because they know EXACTLY what their readers want. They write these beautiful stories, that you just can’t help but be swept away in. You can’t stop reading because you are praying that what you THINK might happen is what really happens. (Although, I have to give it to Ms. Alexander, she threw a few things at me that I did not see coming. )
I may have actually enjoyed Images of Devotion even more than it’s counterpart, A Taste of Sweetness. The story had a little more depth to it, and including the element of being around family under stressful circumstances, made Dixie a broad, and well developed character. You got a very clear picture of who she is, and it made her all the more relatable. There is also a lot more humor to this story. I laughed out loud in many different parts. I completely fel in love with Chase. He is a big goofball with a heart of gold. He isn’t always a perfectly smooth talker, and I really appreciated that about him. It makes him more real.
As with A Taste of Sweetness, Images of Devotion has all the butterflies, all the sweetness, and all the steam of a great romance novel. It’s absolutely everything you want out of a romantic comedy. We all need an escape now and then. A chance to escape to a world of fantasy. Images of Devotion is a fantastic choice for that escape. Reading it truly just made me happy.
My one and only critique is that I still found some grammatical errors, albeit, few than in the first book.
Images of Devotion is overall just a fun book to read. It goes on sale September 22nd, 2020, and is available for pre-order now. If you need a good escape read, place your order now. You won’t regret it. And while you’re at it, be sure to check out the original Blossom Hills book, Taste of Sweetness.
Bravo, Kate Alexander.
